What moves the number
The equipment
Capacity, efficiency rating and staging all affect cost. Higher efficiency equipment costs more up front and less to run, and whether that trade works for you depends on how long you plan to stay.
The type of system
A furnace with an air conditioner and a heat pump handling both are different pieces of work.
The installation
Access is the factor people underestimate most. Equipment in an accessible utility closet and equipment in a tight crawl space or a low attic are genuinely different jobs.
What else has to change
Electrical supply, venting, condensate handling and duct modifications can all form part of the work.
The ducts
New equipment on poor duct will underperform. Sometimes the honest recommendation includes duct work, which moves the number, and we would rather say that before you spend than after.
What we will not tell you
We will not quote a system over the phone. Anyone who does is either guessing or quoting something they will revise on arrival.

What is the average cost of replacing a furnace?
As part of a complete system, the work is quoted after an assessment of your home. A furnace-only replacement is scoped separately after we have assessed the installation.
Why is the price range so wide?
Because the jobs genuinely differ. Equipment selection, system type, access and whether duct or electrical work is needed all move the number substantially.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
No. We would only be guessing, and a guess you plan around is worse than no number.
Is a more efficient system worth the extra cost?
It depends how long you plan to stay and how much you run the system. It is a real trade-off rather than an automatic yes.
